In-Mould-Labeling

Brilliant photo quality, high UV and abrasion protection, moisture and temperature resistance and short production cycles: In-mould labelling is undoubtedly one of the best printing processes and is far superior to conventional printing processes. This means that the label does not peel off, yellow or slip.

Product refinement in a class of its own

During the production process, the film fuses with the product to form an inseparable unit, enabling the permanent placement of brand messages and the design of sophisticated surfaces. And that is by no means all. After all, products printed using the IML process are surprisingly cost-effective thanks to their economical integration into the production process; the film itself is completely recyclable. We at W.AG Funktion + Design GmbH play the keyboard of in-mould labelling perfectly and refine cases and boxes with individual and photorealistic designs: also for you on request.

In-mould decoration: the power of imagery

Brands are much more than a company name, a logo or a selected product range. Good brands transport emotions, convey a certain attitude to life and are associated with a special image. Brand communication is therefore a central element of any marketing strategy. And this is precisely where the visual language comes into play.

Images symbolise the emotional world of brands, build a bridge to the consumer’s gut feeling and create incentives to buy. The in-mould process allows you to directly target your customers’ subconscious without any detours. With our high-quality and colour-intensive colour prints, there are many options open to you. In-Mould-Labeling by W.AG

No other printing process is as suitable for branding as in-mould labelling. It is therefore no wonder that numerous plastic cases and plastic boxes from W.AG are printed using the IML process. IML is used in our injection moulding production, where the printing takes place in a single process. The PP film or IML label is offset printed with a customer-specific design and then automatically inserted into the open injection mould.

In the subsequent injection moulding process, the film is applied to the outer side of our case and box half-shells with each moulding shot. The liquid plastic and the PP film bond completely and permanently to form a single unit. In contrast to the large runs in the consumer goods and packaging industry, we can also produce smaller runs.

Invisible barcode for the in-mould process

Another advantage of in-mould labelling is the digital integration of an invisible Digimarc barcode with a link embedded in the IML label. The code is applied to the packaging as a digital watermark, so that visually distracting QR codes are avoided. The special feature is that the code is imperceptible to the human eye as it is incorporated into the artwork at pixel level.

Use of the technology

Using the free Digimarc Discover® app, the barcode can be read via smartphone and the stored URL called up. Digimarc is already being used by leading retailers and consumer brands, international banks, US authorities, film production companies and sports franchise systems. The sophisticated technology allows you to link to instruction manuals, websites, eBooks, product videos and much more information on our plastic cases and boxes, further enhancing your branding. In the case of instructions, you also save space that can be put to better use elsewhere.

IML colours & case colours

The IML foils used are produced using the 4c-offest process or foil printing and offer a colour match with the case colour. In principle, all cases and boxes from W.AG. are suitable for IML printing. The dimensions of the printable surface depend primarily on the size of the case. The innovative TWIST design case, for example, offers by far the largest print area and is ideal for full-surface labelling. All other dimensions and labelling options at TEKNO,

JAZZ, HEAVY, BEAT and SWING can be found in our flip catalogue. Our cases and boxes can be produced in standard colours, selected colours and special colours. There are 20 factory colours including transparency available; for special colours according to your corporate design, we need the exact colour values for your individual case colour.
